Gaisce Hillwalking Awards
Gaisce – the President’s Award is Ireland’s very own National Challenge Award, the country’s most prestigious and respected individual award programme, and a challenge from the President of Ireland, to you… the nation’s future.
Transition year is about bonding and at Track and Trail we also provide fun, physical and exciting hill walking sessions over breath taking scenery.
Why not contact us about our special TY Gaisce walks? There run over 2 days (Bronze) or 3 days (Silver), with a camp / hostel break in between.
During these programmes we also do some training sessions on:
· Map and compass work.
· Taking bearings.
· Identifying different features.
· Pacing.
· Grid referencing.
· We also encourage students to read the map and do spot checks on location throughout the hikes.
